Service in the Royal Artillery

Born in 1923 in Bexleyheath, Bert Pink joined the Royal Artillery in March 1941 and trained as a gun layer. Bert served in North Africa, Italy and Yugoslavia with the 67th Anti-Tank Regiment. During the fighting in Italy, Bert was made sergeant as the gun sergeant of the landing craft was badly injured during landing.

After returning to England in September 1945 Bert married but soon returned to Italy, where he stayed until the latter parts of 1946. He was stationed at the Royal Artillery in Woolwich until the end of 1948.
