The Memories of War and Reminiscence Theatre Archive Christmas Performance was held on 18 December 2012. The event included a number of drama performances written and performed by students and staff from the University of Greenwich. The plays were based on material from the Memories of War Archive and the Reminiscence Theatre Archive.
The drama performances were followed by a Christmas Choir Competition. The winning choir performed 'Merry Christmas, War is Over' and representatives of the Memories of War team were amongst its members.
The Memories of War Archive is a rare record of personal experiences of people across London and the South East during the Second World War. The archive is now available online and offers a unique collection of resources for academics, scholars, researchers and the wider community.
The Reminiscence Theatre Archive of Pam Schweitzer, housed within the Drama Programme at the University of Greenwich, charts 30 years of creating theatre from memories. Lecturer Heather Lilley and Drama students have worked with Pam Schweitzer to establish a Reminiscence Archive Theatre Company, creating new plays from the oral history transcripts and touring them to local sheltered housing units.
